Landmark Settlement: New York Ride-Share Drivers to Receive Compensation and Enhanced Benefits
In New York City, thousands of ride-share drivers are set to receive compensation as a result of a significant legal settlement. New York Attorney General Letitia James revealed on Thursday that drivers will soon have the opportunity to apply for settlement funds resulting from a landmark lawsuit. In November, both Uber and Lyft reached a $328 million settlement for their failure to adequately compensate drivers over the years. Starting March 1, eligible drivers can apply for back-pay, and all ride-share drivers will begin receiving paid sick leave along with a minimum pay rate.
